Day #1 Recap (Ansonia CT to Stockbridge MA)
Having reached our Day 1 destination of Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge MA (approximately 80 miles down), I have the distinct privilege of sharing our amazing experience thus far.
We departed Ansonia at 9:30 this morning, surrounded by family, friends, Assumption School students and staff, Mayor Cassetti, and most notably Fr. Sullivan’s mother (who made this same trip decades before on a 1940s Grudge bicycle.) Amid the police escorts that saw him safely through the town of Seymour, Fr. Jim ventured up to the Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield.
After meeting up with a friendly fellow rider, having a quick bite to eat, and praying on behalf of the nearly 1,000 prayer intentions occupying his bike bag, we departed Litchfield for the Massachusetts border, and the Shrine of Divine Mercy that lies just beyond in Stockbridge.
I am able to report that we made it safe and sound! With a full belly compliments of the Red Lion Inn, a full spirit compliments of the opportunity to celebrate Mass in this incredible place, and a full heart compliments of the loving people who made the trip to meet us and share in this first leg of the journey, we close this first day. With uncertainty for what the next few days will bring, but with eager anticipation for the Lord’s grace to flow abundantly, I wish you a good night!
